You will then be asked about your eye history, family eye history (e.g. glaucoma, diabetes) and also about any special visual needs in relation to work, hobbies and lifestyle. Details of any medication you are taking will be noted.
Using various tests, we will then determine your spectacle prescription to see if any optical correction is needed or if there has been a change in your correction. How your eyes work together will also be checked, as sometimes your spectacles may need a prism prescribed to alleviate unwanted disparity between the eyes. The pressure of your eyes will be measured which is especially important if you are over the age of 40 and if necessary your field of vision may also be checked. The exterior and interior of your eyes will be examined to check for signs of any eye disease.
You will be advised on the type of spectacle lenses that you can have and recommend when you should have your next eye examination. We send a reminder letter around the date of your next due eye examination and follow up reminders are sent if the first reminder is mislaid.
Once the eye examination is finished you will be advised on the various ways in which we can correct your optical correction including the different types of contact lenses. If you require any information then Paul and his staff are always willing to offer professional advice.
